E-Learning software on Grid Platform at IAMI/VAST

E-learning has been a topic of increasing interest in recent years. At present, E-learning is being attached special importance as an indeed demand. It helps the lecture to scheduling flexibility as well as supports many tools can now be offered at a widely affordable level. As a result, many E-learning platforms and systems have been developed and commercialized. However, these are based on Client-Server; Peer-to-Peer, or, more recently, Web service architectures, with a major drawback being their limitations in scalability, availability, and distribution of computing power as well as storage capabilities. This paper tries to remedy this situation by proposing the use of Grid Computing - a fairly new powerful technology which will be deployed forthcoming in Vietnam - in the context of E-learning. This is the new environment, which is integrated advantageously the E-learning system into. This paper concentrates on the E-learning system; the base architecture of Grid system and the Grid system's components. In particular, it is shown what advantages a utilization of Grid computing may have to offer and which application could benefit from it. Moreover, an architect for an E-learning Grid is outlined, and the notion of a Grid Learning object is introduced..

Deploy Hospital Open Software Platform for E-Health at IAMI/VAST

Grid computing has been a topic of increasing in recent years. It attracts the attention of many scientists from many fields. As a result, many Grid systems have been built for serving people’s demands. At present, many tools for developing the Grid systems such as Globus, gLite, Unicore stil bel developed incessantly. Especially, gLite – the Grid Middleware - was developed by the Europe Community scientific in recent years. With the integrating and developing some software packets such as: R-GMA, VOMS or Condor, gLite is used widely because of its simplicity for the developer of the systems. Constant growth of Grid technology opened the way for new opportunities in term of information and data exchange in a secure and collaborative context. These new opportunities can be exploited to offer physicians new telemedicine services in order to improve their collaborative capacities. Our platform gives physicians an easy to sue telemedicine environment to manage and share patient's information (such as electronic medical record, images formatted DICOM…) between remote locations. This paper presents the Grid Infrastructure based on gLite; some main components of gLite; the challenge scenario in which new applications can be developed to improve collaborative work between scientists; the process of deploying Hospital Open software Platform for E-health (HOPE) on the Grid.

Article about Swine Flu published in ISGTW

H1N1 influenza A has been in the headlines lately. The World Health Organization has officially classified the latest outbreak a “pandemic,” in response to its world-wide geographic spread. French, Vietnamese and Korean research institutes are currently digging to figure out how grid technology can help to improve a global response to this pandemics. Ana Lucia Da Costa HealthGrid/France, EuAsiaGrid member, gives her viewpoint in the following ISGTW article: http://www.isgtw.org/?pid=1001866
